We offer different options for cards when making a purchase request, each of them best-fit for a specific need. You'll be prompted to choose a frequency- this will decide what virtual card you receive, and how it behaves.
Single use/one time
A single use card is... well, exactly what it sounds like. We will give you a virtual card number that can only be used one time! Please note if you try again after attempting or successfully processing a transaction - you'll get declined.
Note: If you're using a single use card and the transaction is declined - don't attempt again (because it will also get declined) Just submit a new purchase request again and let your approver know what happened. This card should not be used at vendors that authorize a partial charge, and try to charge a second time. For cases like this, select a refillable/card on file for the amount instead.
# of allowed transactions: one
ex: A one-time catering charge for an office party
Refillable - card on file (slack), multiple times (web)
This card type holds a balance and is akin to a gift card that can be used until the funds run out, or are updated/increased. If you're requesting this card on Slack , it will be known as "Card on file" when you make your frequency selection. If you're requesting through the web app it will be called "multi- use"
# of allowed transactions: unlimited
ex: A card to pay for office snacks
Recurring - daily, monthly, yearly
This card type is mainly used for subscriptions that are going to being charged for more than once. It's great because the card will be automatically charged for the subscription, meaning it's easy to manage (and not forget) about the reoccuring subscriptions you're paying for.
# of allowed transactions: unlimited
ex: A monthly subscription to Facebook ads, a yearly subscription to Github
