Setting an Auto-Close Date for Virtual Cards
Teampay allows Admins to set a future Auto-Close Date for any virtual card—ensuring that temporary cards automatically expire right on time.
Whether it’s a project-specific purchase or a card issued for a one-time event, Auto-Close helps you stay in control of short-term spend without needing to follow up manually.
What Is an Auto-Close Date?
An Auto-Close Date is a future date you set when creating or managing a virtual card. Once that date arrives, the card will automatically deactivate—no manual steps required.
Why Use Auto-Close?
-
Reduces risk: Automatically shuts off cards no longer in use
-
Simplifies cleanup: No manual deactivation needed at project or fiscal year-end
-
Keeps cards tidy: Helps avoid clutter from old, unused virtual cards
How to Set an Auto-Close Date
1. Open the Card Details Page
From the Committed tab (or another view), click into the card you want to configure.
2. Click the "..." Menu
Located just below the card image, open the action menu.
3. Select Edit Auto Close Date
This will launch the Auto-Close configuration screen.
4. Choose a Date
Use the calendar picker to set the desired close date (e.g., May 31, 2025). You can also remove or update a previously set Auto-Close Date.
5. Click Save Auto-Close Date
Your card is now scheduled to automatically deactivate on that date. 🎉
✅ How Auto-Close Appears
Once a date is saved, it becomes visible in the card’s detail panel:
You’ll also see it in the Committed tab or anywhere cards are listed:
